Congratulations to James Wassell and Beinfield Architecture for receiving a Merit Award in this year’s CT AIA Drawing Awards program!

James’ “Concept Sketch for Waterfront Home” was a favorite among the jurors because it captured the process of drawing as an architect. They said it made them feel nostalgic, and they appreciated that they could see what had been decided on in the artist’s mind but also what was still vague. The jurors said “it all feels good.”

We are excited to learn that we are recipients of an AIA Alice Washburn Award for this new build in Darien! 

Jury comments are as follows: 

The house nestles into the landscape. It is nicely detailed, a modern interpretation of farmhouse forms. Well designed, it fits beautifully into the landscape. The bridge concept ties the interior and exterior together, creating a nice relationship spatially.
